Rewa beats Ba at home

The Delta Tigers Rewa put up a gallant performance this afternoon as they defeated the 4R Electrical Ba 1-0 in the Fiji Sun/ Skipper Tuna National Football League encounter at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori earlier today.

The Marika Rodu coached side started the match on a high as striker Epeli Saukuru missed some early sitters in the game while Avinesh Waran Swamy and Samuela Nabenia was on show for the David Ali coached Ba side.

Hardworking striker Epeli Saukuru found the net mid-way in the first half after a defensive blunder by Ba and miscommunication by the goalkeeper  Epeli Codro as Rewa enjoyed a 1-0 lead at the breather.

The ‘men-in-black’ came firing into the second half looking for the equalizer, however the stubborn Rewa defense and some good saves by goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau kept the score intact till the final whistle.

Rewa, after the win, moves up to fourth place with 18 points while Ba remains on second spot with 22 points.

Meanwhile, at Subrail Park in Labasa, Midfielder Edwin Sahayam’s late goal in the added time allowed Labasa to hold bottom placed Navua 2-2 at their home soil.

Labasa slipped to fifth place with 17 points while Navua remains at the bottom of the table with 5 points in their bag.
