UNIVERSITY OF FIJI APPOINTS NEW VICE-CHANCELLOR

The University of Fiji announces the appointment of Professor Premnarine Misir of Georgetown Guyana as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University.

In making the announcement the Pro-Chancellor of The University if Fiji, Mr. Anil Tikaram said Professor Misir holds a PhD in Social and Behavioral Science from University of Hull (England), Master of Public Health from University of Manchester (England), Master of Philosophy(Sociology) from University of Surrey (England) and a Bacheor of Social Science in Economics and Sociology from Queens University of Belfast (UK). Prof. Misir also has a Postdoctoral in Public Health from Columbia University (NY).

Professor Misir has substantial experience in University administration as Pro-Chancellor of University of Guyana. He has also served as Professor of Public Health at University of Central Lancashire, England. He has intensive publications to his credit in international Journals, books and book chapters.

Prior to his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of The University of Fiji Professor Misir was Executive Director of Health Sector Development Unit at the Ministry of Health, Government of Guyana.

Professor Misir is to join The University of Fiji in early June, 2015.
