Denarau Island, Fiji, 26th August 2014…Sheraton & Westin Resorts Fiji, on Denarau Island, part of Fiji’s only five star integrated resort complex, last week announced the appointment of Vika Cokakosova to the position of Director of Conventions a role previously held by expatriates.
‘We are delighted to have one of our very own local associate replacing an expatriate and we have every faith that Vika will continue to lead her team with utmost professionalism that has bought her to this point’ said Vishnu Deo, Director of Human Resources.
Vika’s journey with Starwood Fiji started in February 2010 and quickly got the respect of her fellow associates. Vika was part of the first group of candidate to participate in the Starwood Careers Track in 2011 and 2012.
The Starwood Careers Program is a series of fast track developmental program for both internal and external talents at different phases of their professional career with Starwood.
Talent management and people development are one of the core focuses of Starwood and as such, Starwood is committed to developing programs that allow associates to tap into their potential to achieve greater success in their professional career with Starwood.
In addition, Vika, while on holiday in Australia did cross training in the conventions department with sister properties, Sheraton On The Park and The Westin Sydney. These opportunities enhanced her knowledge and skills in the role and other areas of the business which has inspired her to take up this new and exciting challenge.

She adds ‘My career has always been centered on tourism which I have always been passionate about. Years I had spent with ATS Pacific contributed hugely to my success in the field that I will continue to champion. Starwood is a fantastic organization with opportunities to grow. I was fortunate to be a part of the first group of candidates to take part on the Starwood Career Track which is a promising program for career expansion.’
It is a great achievement for not only Vika but for Starwood Fiji as the complex is now establishing to be the training ground for the Pacific Island region.
