TRAINING OF SECRETARIES IMPORTANT TO ECONOMY

The training of senior secretaries and executive assistants of both the public and private sector is  important to Fiji’s economy.

These were the sentiments of University of the South Pacific, deputy vice chancellor, Dr Esther Williams while delivering the keynote address at the 2013 Executive Assistants and Senior Secretaries Conference today.

“Senior secretaries and executive assistants serve a very important role to many high level positions,” Dr Williams said.

Sharing her daily experiences, Dr Williams said the work environment was changing every day and the responsibilities of secretaries were limitless.

To this end, the deputy vice chancellor said secretaries and executive assistants must be multi tasked.

The conference was coordinated by USP’s Regional Centre for Continuing and Community Education.

The one day conference included former secretary-general to parliament, Mary Chapman and Munro Leys partner, Richard Naidu as guest speakers.
