SHANGRI-LA’S FIJIAN RESORT & SPA, YANUCA ISLAND, ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING

Coral Coast, Fiji, 23 July 2015 – Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa announces the appointment of Mr Justin Croker as Director of Sales and Marketing. Mr Croker is the second Fiji born person to take up a senior executive role at Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa.

Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort & Spa General Manager, Craig Powell, said the appointment of Mr Croker was timely given that there were exciting times ahead for the resort with renovation plans being finalised and new developments in the pipeline. “We are delighted that Mr Croker has joined us at a time when we are consolidating plans for the upgrade of our resort and also our services including the recent introduction of an extensive in-room entertainment programme of 30 channels for our guests as well as the introduction of complimentary wi-fi service in all rooms with both projects in it’s final stages of being installed and tested. It also goes without saying that I am proud that another of our own home grown talent has been appointed to this role and Justin was chosen, from a competitive range of international candidates, to lead the charge for our sales and marketing team,” Mr Powell said.

Mr Croker has had extensive experience in the tourism industry both in Fiji and Australia in the areas of revenue management, e-commerce and distribution management. He began his career with Fiji Airways and most recently oversaw more than 28 properties with the Wyndham Hotel Group (South Pacific) based in Australia.

Mr Croker said he looked forward to the challenge and the task ahead of him especially when Shangri-La Fijian Resort & Spa was on the brink of finalizing renovation plans as well as other exciting new development plans for the resort.
“It was not a difficult decision for me to take on this assignment with such an iconic hotel that has been on this ride with the growth of the tourism industry in Fiji since the very beginning,” Mr Croker said. “It is also important to me to come back home to where it all started for me and be able to contribute and give back to the development and growth of local talent in the tourism industry in Fiji and working with all stakeholders to take this to the next level. “My key focus will of course be on ensuring that we continue to remain the resort of choice post renovations on the coral coast offering an authentic Fijian experience, while working on strengthening key partnerships in both Fiji and abroad building on the strong foundations we already have and developing new business from emerging markets ,” Mr Croker said. Mr Croker is married to Ms. Arpana and they have two children Abigail and Zachary.
